[edit] 'Tantrum for a year'
Good catch there. Just to answer your confusion, it used to be that the loss of a masterwork item -- ANY masterwork item -- would crush a dwarf's soul. His mood would take a -1000 point hit, where -50 is miserable (and tantrumming). The thought lasts for almost an entire year, and violent acts while tantrumming give +5 or so...you can see how that would work.
Nowadays, that 1000 point hit is divided by how many masterwork items a dwarf has created. So if a dwarf has created 50 masterworks (pretty easy for a legendary dwarf to churn out), the hit is -20, which is the same as "nauseated by the sun recently". It's strong, but definitely not a game changer. A dwarf with more than 100 masterworks will barely even notice one of them getting destroyed or defaced. It's basically old information that slipped by. --ThunderClaw 09:23, 12 November 2008 (EST)
